What do NSW schools need to do to prepare for DoE Single Sign On (SSO)?
Table of Contents
Please note: This article applies to New South Wales (Australia) public schools only.
The NSW Department of Education requires all K–12 students and teachers to sign in to third‑party learning platforms using their official NSW DoE credentials.
This means schools need to add their teacher and student DoE email addresses to ensure they can keep signing in once NSW DoE Single Sign On (SSO) is enforced.
How to add NSW DoE email addresses to all teacher and student accounts
Update student records
- Log in to the 3E Dashboard
- Go to Students
- Add each student’s NSW DoE email to the External ID field
- Ask students to sign in through DoE SSO option (using their DoE email and password) once updated
Update teacher records (if you are a subscription coordinator or school admin)
- Log in to the 3E Dashboard
- Go to Teachers
- Add or update each teacher’s NSW DoE email to the Email ID field
- Ask teachers to sign in through DoE SSO option (using their DoE email and password) once updated
Update teacher records (if you are a classroom teacher)
- Log in to the 3E Dashboard
- Click on your initial in the top-left corner
- Select My account
- Check the email field and update it if it is not your NSW DoE email address. No action is required if it has already been updated.
- Click Save
- Log out and sign in through DoE SSO option (using their DoE email and password).
Please make these updates before the end of Term 2 (3 July).
Please note: Pre-K students don't get issued NSW DoE login credentials, so they can't use the "Sign in with NSW DOE" button. This applies to K–12 students only.
What happens next
Once the Department enforces SSO, teachers and students will sign in using a "Sign in with NSW DoE" button on the login screen. The old login method will no longer be visible. Completing these updates now means there'll be no disruption to access when that change happens.
A note on mobile app users
If your teachers or students use a mobile app, they'll need to download the latest version before SSO is enforced to keep their access working.
